When Bonnie Greer OBE enquired about commissioning cover artwork for her upcoming book ‘Obama Music’ I was so thrilled, and even more thrilled to meet this incredible woman. Inspiring to talk to and a pleasure to work with, it made creating the artwork for this project even more meaningful.
I was so delighted when she wrote the following about the work:
“Keira Rathbone is one of the most important artists working today. It’s rare that a writer can find and then work with a visual artist who “feels” a work, and can then translate it. Her design for my new book, “Obama Music” is more than an interpretation of the work inside. It extends it. For me, looking at her artwork during the finishing stages of the book, I gained an even clearer idea of what I was trying to do.
That’s the highest form of collaboration to me.. Working with Keira was like having someone finishing my sentences before I could begin to know what to say. Keira Rathbone has a very special creativity.”
