A brilliant opportunity to capture some of the hectic vibe of East London’s famous Brick Lane came whilst exhibiting with the Brick Lane Gallery in 2015.
The people and other traffic move so fast, only ever seeming to halt momentarily – so I was working extra fast. I felt like this movement was captured in the finished piece, contrasting with the more permanent historical buildings, bricks and signs.

Below Brick Lane study is a view I typed from the Sky Garden of the ‘Walky Talky Building’. It took around 15 sessions of anything from 1.5-6hours a sitting. Then I did the Eastward view after that, because you can’t have one without the other! Sky Garden photographs by Alex Griffiths
