Richmond Weir and Lock
Typed over 2 Summers (2013-14) and as usual directly from life, this 3-page impression was typed sitting at the foot of the footbridge’s steps.
Originally drawn to the bridge by passing glances from Twickenham bridge, a recce by bike was required. On closer inspection it’s even more beautiful. The lines and curves colours- and textures even- of the railings, arches and birdlife that gathers as the tide lowers. An extremely pleasant typing spot. It was just the occasional presence of an ungathered dog shit on a hot day that sullied the experience, but thankfully that was rare.
Some of the sounds for ‘Brink Mixdown’ were gathered from this spot by Lolita Laguna.
